Steampunk Garden Party

Spend an evening with the Greene County Historical Society in the mechanized fantasy world of Steampunk.

This will certainly be an unforgettable experience!

Steampunk is a genre of science fiction that that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by the 19th century industrial steampowered machinery. The genre was impacted by writers such as H.G. Wells, Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson. Some past movies that featured costumes, props and vehicles of the Steampunk culture are Tim Burton's 2016 film Alice Through the Looking Glass, Will Smith in the 1999 film The Wild Wild West, the 2011 film The Three Musketeers, the 1954 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the 2011 film A Series of Unfortunate Events, the 2007 film The Golden Compass, and the 2003 film League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

 

Additional activities include:

  • Greene County's FIRST Lantern Festival!
  • Costume Contest (Adult and Youth Categories) with awards for Best Overall Costume!
  • Photo opportunities in Victorian Period Rooms and with our 1916 Steam Locomotive (props and accessories will be available)
  • Artifacts of the Obscure will show their sideshow attraction of haunted, cursed, and macabre objects.
  • Light Refreshments will be available
  • and a Host of Other Activities!

Admission for this event is $10
