Kelly Miller Circus- May 23 2016

It is still dark, headlights from trucks shine across the fairground midway.  There is a large caravan making its way into the Greene County Fair Grounds.  The Kelly Miller Circus has arrived again this year.  They have become good and faithful friends of the Greene County Historical Society.  John Ringling North III, the owner of Kelly Miller, is a great student of history and he also loves the circus, thus a visit by the circus serves a two-fold purpose.  They assist us in funding raising and also enable us to continue to tell the story of Greene County History.

The Kelly Miller Circus seldom returns to the same town on a year after year basis.  However, due to the friendships and the success of this combined effort, they have seen fit to have back-to-back appearances in Greene County.  This effort has proven to be successful financially and entertainment wise.

The show is over two hours in length and features all kinds of acts. There are clowns, camels, tigers, acrobats, elephants and much, much more.  And of course there is always the pleasure of popcorn, peanuts and cotton candy.

The success of this effort is due to the work of a special events committee and a number of merchants and business people in the county.  A special thank you would be offered to one and all for making this program possible and making it successful.  The revenue from this effort is a great assist to the on-going program of the Greene County Historical Society.

As Mr. North turned to go to his RV to catch a few hours sleep before hitting the road, he turned and said, “Rev. Wilson, see you next year.”

In the words from the circus world, “MAY ALL YOUR DAYS BE CIRCUS DAYS.”
