The GCHS Museum Collections 




          The GCHS collection contains artifacts, books, archival documents and photographs with a focus on the political, economic, social, religious and military history of Greene County, Pennsylvania. In addition to these items, the GCHS collection has a limited collection of items pertaining to MAryland, Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia.





          GCHS will acquire materials with a documented association to Greene County and Regional historic significance prior to the date of 1695, unless of a specific interest or association with an individual, trade, service or entity with the Greene County, Southwestern Pennsylvania or adjoining parts of West Virginia. Any acquisitions will be managed on a case by case basis by the Administrator and Chair of the Collections Committee.




  1. Items must be of historical significance to Greene County, Southwestern Pennsylvania or adjoining parts of West Virginia.
  2. Accessions forms must be filled out to the best of the donors’ abilities and knowledge with a copy made to signify the official transfer of ownership. Accessions forms must include condition report and physical description as well as a photograph.
  3. All donations must be delivered to the GCHS Museum unless a pick up has been arranged.
  4. Donated items dimensions cannot exceed six feet by six feet unless authorized by Administrator, Chair of the Collections Committee and/or Board of Directors.
  5. Donated items, both artifact and archival, cannot hold restrictions unless it is of a sensitive nature that will give offence to a group, individual or their surviving relatives.
